I love Feature Stories! Circle time reading and songs, crafts and other activities related to the feature book. Sometimes, I even put up decorations and have a story themed snack for the kids. Anything to encourage a love of books.
Dr. Seuss must be included when you do feature stories. There are so many great Dr. Seuss books, that I put them into three lesson guides.
Each lesson guide has five classic Dr. Seuss books featured, one for each day of the school week. In each guide is a list of other books you could read that go along with the feature book. There are song ideas and a list of activities to choose from. Each guide has a color/ trace/ write worksheet as well.
I can’t wait until we read The Foot Book, because I came up with a special extra for that lesson.
